Decorations
These fish come from rivers that are full of debris like wood and plants. Elephant Fish expect to see these objects and are used to navigating them.
The aquarium should be relatively well-planted with a lot of vegetation for these fish to interact with. You have a lot of options, but we recommend plants like hornwort, Java moss, Anibias, and staurogyne repens.
Feeding
These fish are scavengers and search for food using their nose. When they fins food they pick it up with their nose and put it into their mouth above the nose.
Carnivorous by nature these fish will eat a wide variety of meaty, protein-rich foods. In the wild, this usually means various insects and larvae.
Feed them chopped up earthworms, tubifex and brine shrimp.
