Decorations
Darker colored substrates and background help colors stand out. A few river rocks and some pieces of driftwood in a sand substrate.
The ideal tank should have a large open area for swimming with an abundance of live or artificial plants around the periphery of the tank.
Feeding
Feed your barbs a high-quality flake food that can be consumed in 3 minutes.
If possible feed daphnia or brine shrimp once a week.
They will quickly gobble up small aquatic invertebrates and even cooked vegetables or beef heart.
